Find Sullivan County Released Inmates

A search for Sullivan County released inmates begins by finding the agency that held the person. Sullivan County does not run a public jail roster of its own, so a name may appear with an outside county prison, the state corrections system, or a federal agency. Sullivan County released inmates may also have court, parole, probation, or victim-notification records after custody ends. To search for Sullivan County released inmates, match the person to the correct facility and then confirm the event with a dated discharge record. A missing roster entry alone does not prove release.

Understanding Sullivan County Releases

A Sullivan County release record belongs to the agency that performed each part of the custody event. The sheriff may have a transport or monitoring entry. An outside county prison holds its own booking and discharge fields. The Unified Judicial System keeps the court docket and orders. PA DOC records a state commitment, institutional movement, parole location, or discharge. Those records are related, but they are not interchangeable. The clearest proof that someone left a facility is a dated discharge entry showing the release type and destination.

“Released” can mean free movement into the community, release on bail, completion of a county term, parole from state custody, or discharge after a case ends. It can also be used loosely for a transfer. A person sent to another jail, PA DOC, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE has left the first agency without becoming free. Read the destination field before describing the event. Sullivan County released inmates normally disappear from a live custody display, but Sullivan publishes no local roster that can settle that question.

Discharge
The facility's recorded end to that custody episode.
Time served
A sentence satisfied by credited time already spent in custody.
Parole
Conditional community custody before the maximum sentence expires.
Probation
Court-ordered community supervision that may follow or replace confinement.
Detainer
A request or order that can hold a person for another authority.

Sullivan County Release Types

The wording on the actual discharge record matters. Bail and bond concern pretrial release conditions. A dismissal may end the charge that caused custody, though another case can still hold the person. Time served or sentence expiration refers to the court-imposed term. Parole is not full sentence completion. A transfer closes one facility's stay while starting custody elsewhere. The table keeps those routes separate.

Recorded eventMeaningNext source to check
Bail or bond releasePretrial custody ends under court conditionsUJS docket, bail order, releasing jail
Time served or expirationThe recorded confinement term endsSentencing order and discharge transaction
ParoleCustody continues under supervision in the communityPA DOC locator and Parole Board record
Dismissal or court releaseA court order removes that case's basis for confinementDocket, signed order, and jail discharge
TransferThe person leaves one custodian for anotherDestination jail, PA DOC, BOP, USMS, or ICE

A death in custody and an escape are not community-release types and must not be presented that way. PA SAVIN may send event wording about movement or escape, but a notice still needs confirmation from the reporting agency.

Sullivan County Release Record Fields

The most useful request seeks existing administrative fields, not an answer to a broad question. A narrow date range, full name, aliases, date of birth when permitted, docket number, offense tracking number, and suspected facility help the custodian locate the right episode. Each field answers a different part of the event.

FieldWhat it establishes
Booking or commitment numberLinks the discharge to the correct admission
Admission date and timeMarks the start of the facility stay
Release date and timeShows when that custodian closed the stay
Release type or reasonDistinguishes bail, court order, sentence end, parole, or transfer
Releasing authorityIdentifies the court, board, or agency behind the action
DestinationSeparates community release from another custodial placement
Charges and holdsShows which cases or detainers affected processing
Photo and property closureConnects the image or property record to that booking

The docket gives legal context but rarely proves the exact minute staff completed discharge. A favorable court entry can precede release while staff check warrants, detainers, and other commitments. Conversely, a jail can record a transfer after one docket appears closed. Keep the court order, sheriff movement record, jail admission or discharge, and next-agency entry on separate lines of a timeline.

Request Sullivan County Release Records

Start with the office that possesses the record. The Sullivan County Right-to-Know page requires the county form and a request for specific documents maintained by the county. Its route does not cover criminal or civil court case records. Court orders go through UJS and the proper court custodian. A receiving prison's booking and discharge data go to that prison. PA DOC and federal records use their own access routes.

  1. Identify the likely custodian from the commitment, docket, sheriff, or VINE agency result.
  2. Use the Sullivan County request form for county-held sheriff or transport records.
  3. Describe the booking, commitment, transport, discharge, destination, or photo record and give a narrow date range.
  4. Ask for electronic copies and a fee estimate. Request a booking photograph as a separate item.
  5. Keep the request, submission proof, extension, denial, and cited exemptions for any appeal.

Under Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, an agency ordinarily grants, denies, or invokes an allowed extension within five business days. An extension may add up to thirty calendar days without a separate requester agreement. The current Office of Open Records schedule permits no extra delivery charge for electronic production. Black-and-white copies may cost up to twenty-five cents per page for the first thousand pages, then twenty cents. Confirm the live schedule before ordering.

Note: Ask for records that show the event; a records officer does not have to create an explanation or answer a question.

Correcting Sullivan County Release Records

Sullivan's split custody path makes record correction more precise. The sheriff's documented role includes transport and monitoring. The receiving jail creates the booking and discharge entry. The court creates its orders, while PA DOC creates state-custody and parole fields. An error should go to the office that made it. Provide the docket or offense tracking number, record identifier, disputed field, and the order or source that supports the change.

One office may confirm its own action but cannot rewrite another database. A sheriff transport date might be correct even when a receiving jail recorded admission after midnight. A court order may predate operational discharge. Preserve each timestamp and ask for a correction response in writing. That method is more reliable than asking Sullivan County to alter a Clinton, Montour, Wyoming, Lycoming, Columbia, PA DOC, BOP, or ICE entry.

Sullivan County Record Access Laws

Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, Act 3 of 2008, presumes many local and Commonwealth agency records public unless a privilege, court order, other law, or exemption applies. Personal security data, medical information, investigative material, sealed matters, juvenile records, and safety concerns can limit access. Agencies must still consider whether nonexempt parts can be separated and released.

Public visibility can change. Expungement under 18 Pa.C.S. §9122 and Clean Slate limited access may remove a case from public UJS search. Limited access is not the same as destruction. An absent online docket therefore proves neither that no case existed nor that release occurred. The research found no enacted statewide Pennsylvania anti-pay-to-remove mugshot law as of its August 2026 check. Pending legislation is not a current right.

Record access is record-specific. A transport destination, release field, photograph, and police investigative report may receive different legal treatment.

Find Released Sullivan County Inmates

There is no single Sullivan County released inmate search. Begin with identity and custody level. The county of arrest does not decide the final custodian. Pennsylvania law uses the sentence and commitment to determine county or state confinement, while federal and immigration custody follow separate systems. Follow the records in order and preserve the exact status labels.

  1. Search the UJS Web Portal under Sullivan County and read the commitment, bail, disposition, and sentencing entries.
  2. Ask the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office which receiving facility held the person and whether the last action was release or transport.
  3. Check the named jail's official custody system and request its dated discharge fields.
  4. For a state commitment, use the PA DOC Inmate/Parolee Locator and verify the displayed mode, status, date label, and location.
  5. Check PA SAVIN through VINELink for a participating-agency event, then confirm it with the source facility.
  6. Use BOP, USMS or federal court records, and ICE only when the case or destination points to federal custody.
Off the roster does not mean released. A transfer, spelling difference, delayed update, or restricted record can also remove a name.

A same-day list would not replace this named-person path. Sullivan publishes no official twenty-four-hour or seventy-two-hour feed. The Sullivan County 24-Hour Release List explains how to confirm same-day events without simulating a roster.

Sullivan Release Dockets in UJS

Sullivan and Wyoming Counties share Pennsylvania's Forty-Fourth Judicial District. That district label does not show where a person was booked. In the UJS criminal case search, select Sullivan County and match the docket number, participant, and offense tracking number. Read entries in date order. Bail and commitment entries explain pretrial custody; disposition and sentencing entries explain the legal basis for confinement; later orders may alter it.

The county Clerk of Courts is the local criminal-record custodian. Obtain the signed bail, commitment, sentencing, release, or modification order when a docket entry is abbreviated. UJS docket sheets are useful context, but the receiving jail still holds the physical discharge time. A “Sullivan County” filter and a “Forty-Fourth Judicial District” heading answer different questions.

Sullivan County Recent Release Limits

The official sheriff page publishes no current inmate roster, release tab, booking-photo gallery, recent-release list, or sheriff jail app. Search results often mix Sullivan County, Pennsylvania with same-named counties in New York and Tennessee. Confirm the state, Laporte courthouse address, and official government domain before trusting a result.

For a recent event, identify the outside receiving jail. Its display rules control what appears and for how long. A list from Clinton or another county covers Sullivan cases only when that facility actually held the person. If it shows current inmates only, disappearance remains inconclusive. Ask the facility for the admission date, discharge time, release reason, releasing authority, and destination. Do not describe a transfer as community release.

Sullivan County Release Supervision

Pennsylvania has separate state and county supervision tracks. The Pennsylvania Parole Board makes decisions within its statutory authority, and PA DOC staff perform state field-supervision work. Sullivan County Probation & Parole provides local adult and juvenile probation and parole functions. A county probationer may have no PA DOC entry at all. Use the sentencing docket to identify the authority before calling an office.

The local probation and parole office also links to the Bradford/Sullivan Drug and Alcohol Single County Authority. That resource can help with assessment, referral, treatment, and case-management navigation. A service referral is not proof that a named person is supervised or released. Exact conditions come from the sentencing authority, and detailed verification belongs with the official office.

Sullivan Release Alerts and Transfers

PA SAVIN uses the public VINELink interface. Search Pennsylvania by name or offender identifier, compare the agency and available identity fields, and preserve the exact custody-event wording. Alerts can cover county jail, state prison, and state parole events reported by participating agencies. They are notices, not certified discharge records. In Sullivan cases, search the actual receiving jail because that outside agency may supply the event.

Federal paths are separate. The BOP Inmate Locator can show “Released” and a date for federal prisoners from 1982 forward. U.S. Marshals pretrial prisoners have no equivalent public USMS roster. An ICE transfer should be checked through the Online Detainee Locator using an A-number and country of birth or biographical search. Leaving county custody for ICE is a transfer into federal civil custody, not a community discharge.

No Sullivan County Jail Building

The courthouse at 245 Muncy Street is often mislabeled online as “Sullivan County Jail.” Official county material identifies the site as the courthouse and sheriff's office. PA DOC county-prison inspection resources do not list a Sullivan County correctional institution. The distinction prevents calls to a courthouse address for jail admissions or release-desk services that are not advertised there.

Sullivan County uses outside placements. A 2026 confinement agreement makes Clinton County the strongest current principal-destination evidence, while Montour, Wyoming, Lycoming, and Columbia appear in dated arrangements or documented placements. None of those agreements proves where a particular person was held. The commitment, sheriff confirmation, docket, VINE agency, or receiving-jail record must name the institution.

Browse Sullivan Release Facilities

Each facility route answers a different question. The sheriff page covers temporary custody and transport. The serving-prison page explains how to identify an unnamed outside jail. Named county-prison pages cover documented arrangements without assuming a person-level placement. PA DOC, BOP, and ICE pages use their own statewide or federal systems.

Release logistics such as the exit door, hour, property return, and family waiting area belong to the jail that actually holds the person. Sullivan publishes no universal rule for those details. Confirm them directly with that institution before arranging transportation.
